Hi. My name is Pastor Geoff Cortright and I am blessed to serve as the founding missionary and pastor at Saviour of the Nations. Since I have been young, I’ve always had a fascination with understanding people who come from a different background or culture than my own. I vividly remember celebrating Chinese New Year in the streets of New York City, and learning about my Jewish friends who were preparing for their bar mitzvah’s. As a student I made a point of studying abroad in Leipzig, Germany, and getting experience serving as an intern in Malawi, Africa. God has used this to give me a passion for the sort of multicultural context we find everyday here in Vancouver.
Through all my experiences, Jesus has given me joy in wanting to connect and unite with people different than me, so that we can celebrate the Saviour who brings us together in unity. My favourite thing to do as a pastor is to help people who have never opened a Bible before, to come and learn the joy of what it means that Jesus cans come for them. Whether that is studying together in an ESL Bible study, answering people’s questions big and small, or talking about spiritual things over a coffee, you will always find me willing to walk down such a spiritual path with you.
I also rejoice in the blessing God has given me in my family—my wife and partner in life of 18 years, Alicia, who I met while working in Malawi. We are blessed with three children Silas, Hannah, and Miriam. When I’m not at church, or meeting people around the city, you can find me running or biking on streets and trails around Vancouver, or planning my family’s next backcountry adventure somewhere around our beautiful province.
